Fort St. Catherine

July 24, 2026

Fort St. Catherine is Bermuda's largest coastal fortress and a prominent UNESCO World Heritage Site located at the northeastern tip of St. George's Island. Strategically positioned between Achilles Bay and St. Catherine's Beach, it overlooks the historic site where the survivors of the Sea Venture shipwreck safely made landfall in 1609, leading to the permanent colonization of Bermuda. The fortress is famous for mounting five massive, 18-ton rifled muzzle-loading guns capable of firing 400-pound shells designed to pierce heavy iron warship hulls.

Greetings from... Bermuda

May 19, 2021

Greetings from... Bermuda, a British island territory in the North Atlantic Ocean known for its pink-sand beaches such as Elbow Beach and Horseshoe Bay. Its massive Royal Naval Dockyard complex combines modern attractions like the interactive Dolphin Quest with maritime history at the National Museum of Bermuda. The island has a distinctive blend of British and American culture, which can be found in the capital, Hamilton.

Thanks so much Marie!
