Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque

November 24, 2022

Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque is one of the largest and oldest mosques in the country and a major landmark and tourist attraction in the capital of the Sultanate of Brunei, Bandar Seri Begawan. This grandiose, amazing mosque has been named after the 28th Sultan of Brunei, who initialized the construction to serve as a symbol of the Islamic faith in the country. The mosque is influenced by Mughal architecture and dominates the skyline of the capital city. Built in an artificial lagoon on the banks of the Brunei River at Kampong Ayer, the mosque has marble minarets and golden domes, a courtyard and is surrounded by a large number of trees and floral gardens.

Thanks so much Rohana. I can't believe a card still shows up after almost 2 years.

Flags of the World - Brunei

November 23, 2022

The flag of Brunei has a centered emblem of Brunei on a yellow field cut by black and white diagonal stripes. The yellow field represents the sultan of Brunei. The red crest consists of a crescent facing upwards, joined with a parasol, with hands on the sides. The crescent symbolizes Islam, the parasol symbolizes monarchy, and the hands at the side symbolize the benevolence of the government. The black and white stripes represent Brunei's chief ministers.
