Flags of the World - Egypt

April 06, 2023

The national flag of Egypt is a tricolour consisting of the three equal horizontal red, white, and black bands of the Egyptian revolutionary flag that dates back to the 1952 Egyptian Revolution.
The flag bears Egypt's national emblem, the Egyptian eagle of Saladin, centred in the white band. The red band symbolizes the Egyptians’ bloods in the war against colonization. The white band symbolizes the purity of the Egyptians’ hearts. The black band below the white symbolizes the manner in which darkness is overcome.

Great Sphinx of Giza and the pyramid of Khafre

December 31, 2022

The Great Sphinx of Giza is a limestone statue of a reclining sphinx, a mythical creature with the head of a human, and the body of a lion. Facing directly from west to east, it stands on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza, Egypt. The face of the Sphinx appears to represent the pharaoh Khafre. The Sphinx is the oldest known monumental sculpture in Egypt and one of the most recognisable statues in the world.

The pyramid of Khafre is the 2nd largest of the 3 Ancient Egyptian Pyramids of Giza and the tomb of the Fourth-Dynasty pharaoh Khafre. The pyramid has a base length of 215.5 m and rises up to a height of 136.4 m. It is made of limestone blocks weighing more than 2 tons each.

CCUN Egypt with a view of Karnak, an ancient Egyptian temple precinct located on the east bank of the Nile River in Luxor. It covers more than 100 hectares, an area larger than some ancient cities. The Karnak Temple Complex comprises a vast mix of decayed temples, pylons, chapels, and other buildings.

Thanks a lot Mohammed and Hana!

Greetings from... Egypt

Greetings from... Egypt, a country linking northeast Africa with the Middle East, dates to the time of the pharaohs. Millennia-old monuments sit along the fertile Nile River Valley, including Giza's colossal Pyramids and Great Sphinx as well as Luxor's hieroglyph-lined Karnak Temple and Valley of the Kings tombs. The capital, Cairo, is home to Ottoman landmarks like Muhammad Ali Mosque and the Egyptian Museum, a trove of antiquities.

Many thanks to Mohammed and Hana😍
