Ġgantija

Ġgantija is a megalithic temple complex from the Neolithic era, on the Mediterranean island of Gozo in Malta. The Ġgantija temples are the earliest of the Megalithic Temples of Malta and are older than the pyramids of Egypt. Their makers erected the two Ġgantija temples during the Neolithic, which makes these temples more than 5,500 years old and the world's second-oldest existing manmade religious structures after Göbekli Tepe in present-day Turkey. Together with other similar structures, these have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Megalithic Temples of Malta. The Ġgantija temples stand at the edge of the Xagħra plateau, facing toward the south-east. The temples are built in the typical clover-leaf shape, with inner-facing blocks marking the shape.

Valletta

The elegant spire of St Paul's Anglican church and the massive dome of the Carmelite church which rise over the spectacular fortifications, dominate the view of the city at night.

Mdina - St. Paul's Cathedral

Mdina or Citta Notabile was the old capital of Malta. It is surrounded by high bastions on the top of a hill and far from the sea, a good strategy for defensive purposes. It is also commonly called The Silent City. 
Mdina is a small fortified city with a mainly medieval character, but also containing significant Baroque buildings, such as St. Paul's Cathedral. The 17th century baroque cathedral is the mother of all churches of Malta. Flanked by two palaces of the same style of architecture, the Cathedral is evidently a dominant structure within the old city of Mdina.

Valletta

The Grand Harbour is the gateway to Malta's capital city, Valletta and is one of the most idyllic ports in the Mediterranean. The majestic setting within the Grand Harbour, a natural  deep water port surrounded by picturesque fortifications is a truly exceptional and outstanding backdrop.

Flags of the World - Malta

The flag of Malta was officially adopted in 1964.  The red tone is thought to symbolise sacrifices made by the Maltese people for defending their faith, while the white tone stands for peace, love, light and optimism, and the George Cross represents bravery.

Ramla Bay

Ramla Bay in Gozo from Nadur Heights. One of the most spectacular bays in the Maltese islands, Ramla Bay is remarkable for its largely unspoilt surroundings which are traditionally the place were the nymph Calypso entertained Ulysses. A Roman villa lies hidden under sands on the far side of the bay.

Greetings From... Malta!

My first postcard from Malta! Greetings from... with the The Azure Window as background image. The Azure Window also known as the Dwejra Window, was a 28-metre-tall natural arch on the island of Gozo in Malta. The limestone feature, which was in Dwejra Bay close to the Inland Sea and Fungus Rock, was one of the island's major tourist attractions until it collapsed in stormy weather on 8 March 2017.
