Floral Clock

August 09, 2023

Queen Victoria Gardens is part of the Domain Parklands. The peaceful gardens are located on a triangle of land just across St Kilda Road from the Arts Centre Melbourne. The gardens were created in honour of Queen Victoria and her memorial is on the highest point of the gardens. The memorial is made from marble and granite and was opened in 1907. The gardens’ most famous feature is the Floral Clock, donated in 1966 to the City of Melbourne by a group of Swiss watchmakers. Low-growing floral bedding plants are used to create displays which are changed twice a year.

Melbourne

Central Melbourne over the Yarra River, Victoria.
The Yarra River Precinct is Melbourne's tourism industry's vibrant heart and soul. Four kilometres of prime CBD river frontage links Melbourne’s Convention Centre and World Trade Centre with Crown Casino, Federation Square, Arts Centre Melbourne, the Royal Botanic Gardens and a nuclei of world-class sporting venues. In between the major venues lie an ever-growing array of restaurants, high-end shops, riverside bars and eateries, galleries and theatres. On the water itself, tour boats, dining cruises and water taxis share the river with rowing sculls that have been using the waterway competitively since the 1840s.

Many thanks Marnie!
