The Moscow Kremlin Wall is a defensive wall that surrounds the Moscow Kremlin, recognisable by the characteristic notches and its Kremlin towers. The original walls were likely a simple wooden fence with guard towers built in 1156. The Kremlin walls, like many cathedrals in the Kremlin, were built by Italian architects.

Red Square & Kremlin

Red Square is one of the oldest and largest squares in Moscow, Russia. It is located in Moscow's historic centre, in the eastern walls of the Kremlin. It is the city's most prominent landmark, with famous buildings such as Saint Basil's Cathedral, Lenin's Mausoleum and the GUM department store. St Basil's Cathedral is one of the most beautiful Russian Orthodox monuments.

Novodevichy Convent

Novodevichy Convent is probably the best-known cloister of Moscow. Unlike other Moscow cloisters, it has remained virtually intact since the 17th century. The ensemble consists of 14 buildings, including 8 cathedrals and a number of residential and service buildings. The Convent is situated in the south-western part of the historic town of Moscow. The Convent territory is enclosed within walls and surrounded by a park, which forms the buffer zone. The park is limited by the urban fabric of the city on the north and east sides. On the west side, it is limited by the Moscow River, and on the south side there is an urban freeway. The buildings are surrounded by a high masonry wall with 12 towers. In 2004, the Novodevichy Convent was proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the late 17th century, the monastery is one of the most outstanding and representative examples of the so-called Moscow Baroque. Apart from its fine architecture and decorative details, the site is characterised by its town-planning values.

The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour

The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is a Russian Orthodox cathedral in Moscow,  on the northern bank of the Moskva River, a few hundred metres southwest of the Kremlin. With an overall height of 103 metres,
it is the third tallest Orthodox Christian church building in the world.

Saint Basil's Cathedral

The Cathedral of Vasily the Blessed, commonly known as Saint Basil's Cathedral, is an Orthodox church in Red Square of Moscow, and is one of the most popular cultural symbols of Russia. The cathedral has nine domes, each one corresponding to a different church, and is shaped like the flame of a bonfire rising into the sky.

Moscow Zoo - Polar Bears

Another card from Moscow Zoo, this time with polar bears. Currently living in Moscow Zoo are Wrangel (male) and Tompa (female), an orphan cub rescued in the Russian Arctic. Murma died end of 2020 around age 30. I think it might be her on the card with Wrangel.

Caribbean Flamingos

Caribbean Flamingos from Moscow Zoo. Caribbean flamingos are tall, large bodied birds with long necks and small heads. Most flamingos have bright pink or crimson plumage, legs, and bills. The Caribbean flamingo is by far the brightest and one of the largest of all the flamingos.

Moscow Zoo

Moscow Zoo or Moskovsky Zoopark, one of the oldest zoos (1864) in Europe contains 1267 species of animals. They currently have 4 Asian Elephants; 2 adult females, 1 adult male and 1 3 year old bull.

The Cathedral of the Dormition

The Cathedral of the Dormition, also known as the Cathedral of the Assumption is a Russian Orthodox church dedicated to the Dormition of the Theotokos. It is located on the north side of Cathedral Square of the Moscow Kremlin in Russia, where a narrow alley separates the north from the Patriarch's Palace with the Twelve Apostles Church. Separately in the southwest, also separated by a narrow passage from the church, is the Palace of Facets which contains what used to be the main banquet reception hall of the Muscovite Tsars. It is the oldest preserved secular building in Moscow.

My 3rd card of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. This time with Patriarshy Bridge, a steel pedestrian box girder bridge that spans Moskva River and Vodootvodny Canal, connecting Cathedral of Christ the Saviour with Bersenevka in downtown Moscow, Russia. It was built in 2004.

Ensemble of the Novodevichy Convent

The Novodevichy Convent, in south-western Moscow, built in the 16th and 17th centuries in the so-called Moscow Baroque style, was part of a chain of monastic ensembles that were integrated into the defence system of the city. Church of the Ascension, Kolomenskoye

The Church of the Ascension was built in 1532, in the imperial estate of Kolomenskoye, near Moscow, to celebrate the birth of the prince who was to become Tsar Ivan IV "the Terrible". The church is now situated near the centre of Moscow on the steep slope that descends to the floodplain of the Moscow River. The church represented a new stage in Russian architecture. It is the first tent-roofed church to be built in stone.
