Normally elusive, Southwest Nebraska’s Greater Prairie Chickens strut their stuff during mating season each spring. From late March to late April they are booming and birders travel to McCook from all over the world to see the spectacle.

Lincoln Children's Zoo

The Lincoln Children's Zoo is a children's zoo located in Lincoln, Nebraska. Designed specifically for children to experience interactive, up-close encounters with all of the zoo's animals, Lincoln Children's Zoo has been accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Currently, the zoo is home to over 400 animals and over 40 endangered animals, including the Sumatran tiger and Matschie's tree-kangaroo.

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium

A gorgeous African baby elephant from Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, a zoo in Omaha, Nebraska. There are a total of eight elephants in the herd. Eugenia was the first African elephant born in the Zoo’s 127-year history and was born in January 2022. Sonny is the second African elephant born here in the same month. Two more little ones are on the way.

Snow Leopard

An adorable snow leopard cub from Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, a zoo in Omaha, Nebraska. Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is a dedicated member of the Snow Leopard Species Survival Plan (SSP), a program that works to maintain a genetically stable assurance population of Snow Leopards in zoos. Rosemary is 5-years-old, weighs approximately 78 pounds, and has lived at the Zoo since 2015. Pasha is 10-years-old, weighs approximately 106 pounds, and arrived at the Zoo in 2012.

Scotts Bluff National Monument

Scotts Bluff National Monument between Gering and Scottsbluff, Nebraska, is the sight of Mitchell Pass, a narrow break in the Wildcat Hills that became the Oregon Trail route because of the difficulty of moving wagons through the rugged terrain of the surrounding area.
