The Rocks

The Rocks is a neighbourhood of historic laneways in the shadow of Sydney Harbour Bridge. Locals and tourists mingle at the open-air Rocks Markets, purchasing street food and handmade fashions. The area has some of Sydney’s oldest pubs and many of the upscale restaurants have harbour views. It is a warren of atmospheric sandstone warehouses, quiet courtyards, and cobbled alleys on the western side of Circular Quay.

Stanwell Park Beach

Known for its hang gliding and paragliding pursuits, Stanwell Park is an idyllic beach town that offers breathtaking views of the NSW South Coast. It's nestled within an amphitheater-shaped valley, framed by sandstone cliffs, and is often photographed from Bald Hill. It is the northernmost point of the Illawarra coastal strip and lies south of Sydney's Royal National Park.

Coogee Beach

Coogee Beach is located on Sydney's famous Coastal Walkway which stretches from Bondi Beach to Maroubra Beach. Coogee Beach has grown from a destination for day trippers in the early 1800s to one of Sydney's most frequented beaches. Nearby is bustling Coogee Bay Road with an assortment of great restaurants, cafes and ice-cream shops. The surrounding coastline is mostly cliffs, decreasing in height down to the beach in the western part of the bay. The bay is sheltered from the roughest seas by Wedding Cake Island, a rocky reef about 800m off the southern headland.

Australian Inland Botanic Gardens

The Australian Inland Botanic Gardens showcases a range of Australian natives from both arid & higher rainfall areas as well as exotic plantings grounded in country of origin, including a rose garden featuring over 1,600 colour coordinated bushes. Salt-tolerant local flora and exotic plants separated into geographical zones are also part of the collections.

Wollongong Harbour

Wollongong Harbour Precinct is a heritage-listed shipping harbour in Wollongong, New South Wales. It is the only point on the eastern coast of Australia which has two lighthouses. Wollongong Harbour's Breakwater lighthouse has been inactive since 1974. It stands 12 metres high and has a tapered round wrought iron tower with lantern, painted white. Right next to Breakwater Lighthouse sits the larger Flagstaff Hill lighthouse. Which is currently active. The entire structure is painted white. It is located at Flagstaff Hill on Wollongong Harbour. The small sandy beach at Wollongong Harbour is known as Brighton Beach. Although the waters may seem calm most of the time, this is an unpatrolled beach and is not a suitable location for swimming.

Phantom Falls

Phantom Falls is a mysterious weather phenomenon that can occur in all seasons. However, it is more common in Autumn and Spring. In the Blue Mountains, it's mostly seen over Narrow Neck, Katoomba, and it is frequently seen over Kings Tableland, Wentworth Falls. For the Falls to appear, the weather conditions must be exact with high humidity. This natural event is caused by air in the Jamison Valley being warmed by the sun’s rays and rising to meet the colder air in the Megalong Valley. The resulting mist creates a ‘waterfall’ effect which falls slowly and dramatically over the cliff into the Jamison Valley.

Sydney Opera House & Harbour Bridge

Inaugurated in 1973, the Sydney Opera House is a great architectural work of the 20th century that brings together multiple strands of creativity and innovation in both architectural form and structural design. A great urban sculpture set in a remarkable waterscape, at the tip of a peninsula projecting into Sydney Harbour, the building has had an enduring influence on architecture. The Sydney Opera House comprises three groups of interlocking vaulted ‘shells’ which roof two main performance halls and a restaurant. These shell-structures are set upon a vast platform and are surrounded by terrace areas that function as pedestrian concourses. In 1957, when the project of the Sydney Opera House was awarded by an international jury to Danish architect Jørn Utzon, it marked a radically new approach to construction.

Broken Hill

Remnants of Broken Hill mining industry.
Broken Hill is Australia’s oldest mining town, with a colonial history dating back to the 1880s. Broken Hill and the surrounding area has many natural and man-made attractions on offer for the tourist. These include mining operations, a visitor's centre and lookout on top of the original Line of Lode mine, historic buildings, town history walking trails, many resident artists and galleries. The Albert Kersten Mining and Minerals Museum, located on Bromide Street and Crystal Lane, explores the mining history of the town through geology exhibits.
