The view from Prospect Park

Completed in the late 1930's, this spectacular 14-foot granite statue was erected as a memorial for Roger Williams, the principal founder of Rhode Island. Williams is portrayed as standing on the bow of a canoe with his arm outstretched, blessing the city of Providence.

Brown University

Brown is an elite private university located in Providence, Rhode Island. It is a mid-size institution with an enrollment of 6,826 undergraduate students. Admissions is extremely competitive as the Brown acceptance rate is only 7%. Popular majors include Computer Science, Biology, and Economics. Brown's main campus is located in the College Hill neighborhood of Providence. The university is surrounded by a federally listed architectural district with a dense concentration of Colonial-era buildings. Benefit Street, which runs along the western edge of the campus, contains one of the richest concentrations of 17th and 18th century architecture in the United States.
