Red Panda

October 15, 2025

A red panda from Artis, a zoo and botanical garden in the centre of Amsterdam. It is the oldest zoo in the Netherlands and fifth oldest zoo in the world that is still operating.  Artis contains 27 historically significant buildings, bridges, and ponds, most of which are still used as animal enclosures. The former Monkey Rock underwent a complete transformation and is now inhabited by two new animal species. Since May, small-clawed otters have been living on the Rock, and since september, visitors can also see the endangered red panda there. The iconic Rock retains its character as a landscape feature and now forms a green island.

From Bhutan

November 01, 2024

My first card from Bhutan, a beautiful red panda. From becoming endangered to having a beer named after them, the red pandas are an icon of Bhutan. The red pandas live in rainy, high-altitude forests. They can be found in the mountains of Nepal, northern Myanmar (Burma), central China, and Bhutan. In Bhutan, red pandas have been spotted in seventeen districts, including seven of the ten protected areas. There have been sightings in all the eight biological corridors too. Sighting a red panda in the wild is rare. The Bhutanese consider it good luck.

Many thanks Patrik!

Sacramento Zoo - Red Panda

September 17, 2021

Located in William Land Park and established in 1927, the Sacramento Zoo is one of the region's top attractions. The Zoo's collection consists of more than 500 animals, diverse botanical life and several specialized gardens. Red pandas, like many species that inhabit the Asian forests, are endangered. The most common threat to their survival is loss of habitat by human encroachment and domestic cattle grazing.

Thanks a lot John!

Red Panda

October 03, 2020

A beautiful 3D red panda card sent from Netherlands.
The red panda shares the giant panda's rainy, high-altitude forest habitat, but has a wider range. Red pandas live in the mountains of Nepal and northern Myanmar (Burma), as well as in central China.
