Four healthy Siberian tiger cubs were born in May 2025, to mother Stormi at Zoo Magdeburg: Henry, Ronja, Koshka and Speedy.

Quedlinburg

Quedlinburg is a northern German town known for its medieval streets lined with half-timbered houses. Overlooking the city is Quedlinburg Castle. The castle complex includes Romanesque-style Church of St. Servatius, which houses the tomb of 10th-century German king Henry I. The Schlossmuseum displays thousand-year-old artifacts. From the town, the Selke Valley Railway travels along cliffs, meadows and vast forests.

Zoo Magdeburg

Magdeburg Zoo is a zoological garden in Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt. The approximately 16-hectare zoo features a park landscape and a large playground for children. In 2016, the zoo housed around 1,400 animals belonging to over 210 species. Four Siberian tiger cubs were born to Siberian tiger Stormi in May 2025. Father Kratz moved to Sóstó Zoo in Hungary.

Zoo Magdeburg

Ring-tailed lemur from Magdeburg Zoo, a zoo located in a park-like setting in the area of Neue Neustadt. The Zoo was founded in 1950, and covers 16 hectares. Up to 176 animal species can currently be marvelled at. Among them are many endangered species, such as the Siberian tiger and the black rhinoceros.

Wernigerode

Wernigerode is a town in the Harz district of central Germany. It is picturesquely situated on the Holtemme river, on the northern slopes of the Harz Mountains. Its old town contains several interesting Gothic buildings and is characterized by its half-timbered houses, including the medieval Town Hall and the leaning Crooked House. Some of the quaint old houses which have escaped the numerous fires through the years are elaborately adorned with wood-carving.

Halle Mountain Zoo

The Monkeys of Halle Mountain Zoo: Chimpanzee, squirrel monkey and white-faced saki. Two senior chimpanzees Banghi and Sebastian are living here and Belize and his partner Maxi are the white-faced sakis of the zoo.

Masters' Houses

The Masters' Houses, commissioned by the city of Dessau, were built in 1925/26 in a pine grove not far from the Bauhaus Building. Three identical semi-detached houses and one detached house were to be built according to Walter Gropius' ideas. In 1996, the Bauhaus including the Masters’ Houses was declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Masters' houses are considered a prime example of white modernism and were intended to demonstrate a new way of living. As in the Bauhaus building itself, the individual parts of the Masters' Houses were designed according to their function.

Wittenberg

Wittenberg is situated on the River Elbe, 60 kilometers north of Leipzig and 90 kilometers south-west of Berlin. It is famous for its close connection with Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation. Wittenberg is best known for its intact historic centre and various memorial sites dedicated to Martin Luther and Philip Melanchthon. These Memorials include Melanchthon's house in Wittenberg, the houses in Eisleben where Luther was born in 1483 and died in 1546, his room in Wittenberg, the local church and the castle church where, on 31 October 1517, Luther posted his famous 95 Theses, which launched the Reformation and a new era in the religious and political history of the Western world.

Halle Mountain Zoo

Halle Mountain Zoo was built in 1901 on the 130 meter high Reilsberg in the north of Halle (Saale) in the Giebichenstein district. With a total area of nine hectares, it is one of the smaller zoos. A traditional focus of the zoo is the keeping of mountain animals, particularly South American animals from the Andean region.

The Brazilian porcupine is a porcupine found in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, French Guiana, Peru, Paraguay, Suriname, Bolivia and Trinidad, with a single record from Ecuador. It inhabits tropical forests at elevations up to 1500 m. This shy, nocturnal porcupine is solitary or lives in pairs in the branches of trees. During the day it rests in a cavity in a hollow tree or in a well-shaded area of the canopy, 6 to 10 meters above the ground.

Naumburg Cathedral

The Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul in Naumburg is one of Europe’s most important cultural monuments from the high middle ages and is a major visitor attraction on the Romanesque Route. The star attraction is the West Choir with its twelve statues of the cathedral’s donors. The noblewoman known as Uta, in particular, is considered by many to be the most beautiful woman of the middle ages.
The two high-medieval choir screens separating the choirs from the nave are also highly impressive. It is the only church in the world to contain two choir screens from the high medieval period.

The Town Church

The St. Mary's Church, the town and parish church, is the oldest building in town and is now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site 'Luther Memorials in Eisleben and Wittenberg'.  Martin Luther used to preach in this church.

Bauhaus Dessau

Bauhaus Dessau, is a building-complex in Dessau-Roßlau. It is considered the pinnacle of pre-war modern design in Europe and originated out of the dissolution of the Weimar School and the move by local politicians to reconcile the city's industrial character with its cultural past.  The building was constructed between 1925 and 1926 according to plans by Walter Gropius as a school building for the Bauhaus School of Art, Design and Architecture.  The building itself and the Masters' Houses that were built in the immediate vicinity established the reputation of the Bauhaus as an icon of modernism.

Meisterhaus

The Masters’ Houses constitute a major architectural and artistic achievement. With their white, cubic structures and complex connections between exteriors and interiors they showed the way forward for modern architecture and testify to the debate about standardisation in housing construction. Today, the houses are used by the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation.
