Trakai Island Castle

Another amazing view of Trakai Island Castle, famous for its gothic architecture and its special location, it stands on an island on Lake Galve, one of the deepest lakes in Lithuania. The view of the historic structure is straight out of a fairy tale. You can reach the castle by crossing the long wooden bridge. In the winter the lake freezes over and becomes a natural skating rink.

Trakai

Situated between three lakes, Trakai is popularly known for its picturesque Trakai Castle. This fortress stands proudly surrounded by water in the middle of the lake Galvė. It is the one and only castle in Eastern Europe that is surrounded by water on all four sides. There are spectacular exhibitions of ancient tools, clothes, and furniture at the castle.

Trakai

Trakai is a town in southeastern Lithuania, west of Vilnius. Part of the Trakai Historical National Park, Trakai Island Castle is a 14th-century fortress in the middle of Lake Galvė. Once a home to Lithuania’s grand dukes, it now houses the Trakai History Museum, with archaeological objects, coins and crafts. On the lake’s southern shore are the stone ruins of the Trakai Peninsula Castle.
