Stanley Park

March 26, 2022

Stanley Park is a 405-hectare (1,001-acre) public park in British Columbia, Canada that makes up the northwestern half of Vancouver's Downtown Peninsula. The Stanley Park Totem Poles at Brockton Point are one of BC’s most visited tourist attractions. These towering monuments tell the stories of First Nations history and culture and are one of the most recognizable symbols of Western Canada. Since the 1920s, the Vancouver Parks Board has been collecting intricately carved totem poles from remote locations in BC.

Thanks a lot Brenda!

Looking at downtown Vancouver towards the North Shore mountains at sunset.
Vancouver, a bustling west coast seaport in British Columbia, is among Canada’s densest, most ethnically diverse cities. It is known for it's beautiful scenery and being immersed in nature, as well as it's wet and rainy climate. It is known as the Hollywood of the North and as the home of Lululemon. The city is also known for it's seafood, expensive housing market, and for the laid back west coast vibes of the people.

Gastown Steam Clock

July 10, 2021
From Gastown, a national historic site in Vancouver. Gastown’s most famous landmark is its steam-powered clock, located on the corner of Cambie and Water Street. The clock was built to cover a steam grate that was part of Vancouver’s distributed steam-heating system. The clock was built as a way to harness the steam and to prevent street people from sleeping on the spot in cold weather.
