Vlissingen  is a city in the southwestern Netherlands on the former island of Walcheren. With its strategic location between the Scheldt river and the North Sea, Vlissingen has been an important harbour for centuries. Vlissingen is mainly noted for the yards on the Scheldt where most of the ships of the Royal Netherlands Navy are built. Vlissingen is one of many towns ideal for a day trip in the Dutch seaside province of Zeeland. It’s the perfect place for a relaxing day by the sea. Vlissingen’s beach promenade is the longest in The Netherlands.
