Weissensee
September 18, 2012
Weissensee is a resort town within the Southern Limestone Alps on the shore of the Lake Weissensee in Carinthia, in south central Austria. This is a paradise for hiking and Healthy Hiking, running, Nordic Walking and mountain biking. The lake itself is a fisherman’s dream, particularly in spring and autumn. In summer, the crystal-clear, turquoise-coloured waters of the lake reach a temperature of up to 24 degrees Celsius and are ideal for swimming, surfing, diving and canoeing. Every hotel and pension has its own beach for guests – this is unique in Austria. Two thirds of the lakeshore remain untouched by tourism development. There is no traffic, and motorboats are also forbidden.
