Lord Murugan
July 22, 2020
Sculpted by master artisans from India, Lord Murugan looms 42 metres high beside the 272 steps leading to Batu Caves complex.
Batu Caves is a limestone hill that has a series of caves and cave temples in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia. It takes its name from the Malay word batu, meaning 'rock'. Batu Caves is also the name of a nearby town. The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, and is dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is the focal point of the Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia. Lord Murugan Statue, located at the Sri Murugan Perumal Kovil at the foot of Batu Caves, representing Kartikeya, is the tallest statue in Malaysia at 42.7 metres in height.
