The ancient theatre of Hierapolis

Hierapolis is a well preserved ancient city located on the top of Pamukkale and is an outstanding world heritage site. It was founded in 2nd century BC by Eumenes II, King of Pergamon.The extensive ruins of the Roman mineral water spa city of Hierapolis include a grand theater, a vast North Necropolis, colonnaded street, baths, and numerous other ruined structures. The ancient city of Hierapolis is located on a 200 meter high terrace of limestone deposits amid a wonderland of mineral water pools and petrified limestone waterfalls. The ancient theatre of Hierapolis has a capacity of 10.000 people and is nearly 1800 years old.
