The national flag of the United Kingdom is the Union Jack, also known as the Union Flag. It was adopted in 1801. The Union Flag is a composite of St. George's Cross of England (the centered red cross bordered in white), St. Andrew's Cross of Scotland (the diagonal white cross on the blue field), and Saint Patrick’s Cross of Ireland (diagonal x-shaped red saltire).
