Smolyan is a small and picturesque town in the Middle Rhodopes, Southern Bulgaria. It is located just 15 kilometers away from the famous ski resort Pamporovo and 260 km south of Sofia. The town stretches over a huge part of the valley of Cherna River. Its elevation, 3,300 feet, makes it the highest town in Bulgaria.
