The Historic City of Toledo holds a cultural and monumental heritage of several historic civilizations. The city has Roman origins and was then called Toletum. Alcázar of Toledo is a stone fortification located in the highest part of Toledo. Most of the city was rebuilt between 1939 and 1957 after the siege of the Alcázar during the Spanish Civil War. It is today the site of the city's Army Museum.
