The Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus), is found in Indian Subcontinent and South-East Asia. Unlike African elephants, these elephants have smaller ears. They are the largest living land animal in Asia. Their habitat is under threat and in the last 30 years their population has declined by 50%. Many Indian states are taking efforts to minimize human-elephant conflicts.
