Petrified Forest National Park displays an expanse of eroding badlands where wind, water and time slowly reveal the fossils hidden within layers of anchient sediments. Petrified wood is on display by nature in the many stages of the erosion process, here seen eroding from a sandstone sediment encasement.
Petrified Forest National Park is located in Navajo and Apache counties in northeastern Arizona.
