The Cathedral is a large granite outcrop located on the high but flat plateau atop Mount Buffalo.
Mount Buffalo National Park is located in the alpine region of Victoria. The 31,000-hectare national park is located approximately 350 kilometres northeast of Melbourne in the Australian Alps. Within the national park is Mount Buffalo, a moderately high mountain plateau, with an elevation of 1,723 metres above sea level. Mount Buffalo is home to charismatic Australian wildlife and approximately 550 species of native plants, including plants found nowhere else on Earth, such as the Buffalo Sallee tree. Sheer cliffs, granite tors, waterfalls and big views make Mount Buffalo a spectacular alpine retreat with much to explore.
