Independence Hall, the birthplace of America. Built between 1732 and 1756 the Pennsylvania State house later became known as Independence Hall. The declaration of Independence was adopted and signed here on July 4, 1776 and the U.S. Constitution later drafted. The universal principles of freedom and democracy set forth in these documents are of fundamental importance to American history and have also had a profound impact on law-makers around the world.
