The Dolomites

March 26, 2022

The site of the Dolomites comprises a mountain range in the northern Italian Alps, numbering 18 peaks which rise to above 3,000 metres and cover 141,903 ha. It features some of the most beautiful mountain landscapes anywhere, with vertical walls, sheer cliffs and a high density of narrow, deep and long valleys.

The mountain massif Odle is located in the heart of the Puez-Odle Nature Park. It is known as the most beautiful massif of the Dolomites, also because of the classic and rugged profile. The Puez-Odle natural park measures 10,722 hectares. From a geological perspective, Puez-Odle natural park is particularly interesting since all the rock strata typical for the Dolomites can be found here, such as Gröden limestone, Bellerophon strata, Wengen and St Cassian strata, Schlern dolomite, Raibler strata, Dachstein dolomite as well as Jurassic and Cretaceous rocks.
