Aveiro, next to the sea and the ria, is crossed by a network of channels through which moliceiros meander. These slim, colourful vessels used to be used to collect algae and seaweed, and today are for sightseeing trips. Important tourist attractions are the Arte Nova architectural designs and tiles of some buildings that were created in the early 20th century, the Art Nouveau museum, the Aveiro Museum, the cathedral and the Church of Jesus with its beautiful architecture.
