The Australian Koala

September 11, 2022

The koala is a marsupial which means it suckles it's young and carries them in its pouch. At birth the koala weighs about 5,5 grams and it only 2cm in length. The cub stays in the mother's pouch for approximately six months before it takes to riding on her back. The aborigines recognised that the koala did not require water in the manner of other animals, hence the Aboriginal word 'koala' is thought to mean no drink.

Thanks so much for these 2 cuties Marnie!
