The necropolis of stećak tombstones Radimlja is the most famous site of medieval tombstones in Herzegovina. It is located 3 kilometers west of Stolac. The necropolis is one of the most valuable monuments of the medieval period. There are 135 stećak tombstones in the necropolis, 63 of which are decorated. The trademark or recognition of this necropolis is a male figure with a raised hand and a relatively large fist and fingers. The necropolis showcases a unique burial tradition. the tombstones are oriented from northwest to southeast, with the head of the deceased pointing northwest and the feet southeast. These masterpieces are made from limestone quarried from the nearby Ošanićko Hill, where an unfinished stećak stands as a tribute to the artisans’ craftsmanship. The shallow reliefs, intricate carvings, and symbolic motifs tell tales of warriors, animals, and religious symbols.
