Lincoln Cathedral is one of the most spectacular Gothic buildings that held the record for the world’s tallest building for over two centuries. Lincoln Cathedral owns one of only four surviving copies of Magna Carta, signed in 1215 and brought back to Lincoln by the Bishop of Lincoln, which is now on loan to and resides in, Lincoln Castle. The cathedral is the fourth largest in the UK at around 5,000 square metres, after Liverpool, St Paul's and York Minster.
