Gibraltar Falls
November 22, 2024
The Gibraltar Falls are a cascade waterfall on the Gibraltar Creek, in the Australian Capital Territory, approximately 50 kilometres from Canberra's city centre. The falls are located in Namadgi National Park and have a 50-metre drop. Created in 1984, the park is on the Australian National Heritage List. It suffered badly in the 2019–20 Australian bushfire season, with around 80% of its vegetation burnt. Namadgi is a local Aboriginal name for the mountains situated to the south-west of Canberra. Aboriginal presence in the area has been dated to at least 21,000 years
