In the heart of the ancient province of Gascony, Fourcès is a bastide founded on the remains of an ancient medieval castle (Xe) destroyed in the 15th century. Some 13km northwest of Condom, Fourcès is located on the River Auzoue. The village's well-preserved stone houses and 13th-century bell tower are squeezed into a near-perfect circle. This unique design has earned Fourcès a reputation as one of the prettiest villages in southwest France.
