The Katse Dam, a concrete arch dam on the Malibamat'so River in Lesotho, is Africa's second largest double-curvature arch dam. The dam is built in the Lesotho Maluti Mountains and is at the centre of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project. It was completed in 1997 and is 710 meters long and 185 meters high. Situated at 2,000 metres above seal level, Katse Dam is described as a striking piece of modern engineering.
