Satpula, the seven-arched bridge was built by Muhammad Shah Tughlaq to tap the local stream feeding the Yamuna riverto irrigate the crops in the vicinity and act as a line of defence for the new city of Jahanpanah. Built in stone masonry it also has two identical defence towers on either ends.
