
Jiufen is a former gold mining town in New Taipei City known for its atmospheric teahouses and shopping district, which gained prominence after its gold mines closed in the 1970s. The town is famous for its winding, narrow alleys and streets, which are beautifully illuminated by red lanterns at night.
