Belfry of Aalst

March 25, 2026

The Belfry of Aalst is one of the oldest belfries in the Low Countries. It is part of a complex that includes the former aldermen's house and a small late-Gothic annex called the Gebiedshuisje. In 1999, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site as part of the Belfries of Belgium and France. The tower houses a carillon with 52 bells, which are regularly played by the city carillonneur.
