Roman Theatre of Gubbio

June 21, 2026

The Roman Theatre of Gubbio is a remarkably well-preserved 1st-century BC monument located in a green archaeological park just outside the medieval walls of Gubbio. It was one of the largest open-air theatres of its time and remains an active venue for summer performances today. The Roman theater was built with large limestone blocks worked in rusticated ashlar. It has two orders of arches, of which the lower order and some arches of the upper gallery survive.
