Situated in the scenic Finnish Lakeland region, Tampere is uniquely built on a narrow isthmus squeezed between two massive bodies of water: Lake Näsijärvi and Lake Pyhäjärvi. The two lakes are split by an 18-metre drop, creating the central Tammerkoski rapids, which historically fueled the city's powerful industrial rise. The city is most famous for all of its public saunas, the Särkänniemi amusement park, the only Moomin museum in the world, and mustamakkara,a special local delicacy. Tampere is the Sauna Capital of the World since 2018.
