La Union is a province of the Philippines located in the Ilocos Region (Region I) on Luzon Island. The land area of the province is 149,770 hectares. It is bordered by Ilocos Sur to the north, Benguet to the east, Pangasinan to the south and to the west by the shores of the South China Sea. The provincial cpaital is San Fernando City. Like most of the region, the province is squeezed in by the Cordillera mountain range to the east and the South China Sea to the West.
La Union is best known as the "Surfing Capital of the North", driven by the consistent waves of Urbiztondo Beach in San Juan. Beyond wave-riding, the province is famous for its vibrant cafe and dining scene, rich cultural heritage sites like the Ma-Cho Temple, and eco-tourism spots such as Tangadan Falls.
