The Church of Saint Sava is a Serbian Orthodox church in Belgrade. It is the fourth largest Eastern Orthodox church in the world and one of the largest churches in the world by gross volume. The church is dedicated to Saint Sava, the first Serbian archbishop and the nation's patron saint. Symbolically built on the Vračar plateau, it marks the location where Ottoman Grand Vizier Sinan Pasha burned the relics of Saint Sava in 1594. It is designed in the Neo-Byzantine style, drawing direct inspiration from the famous Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. The church reaches a soaring height of 70 meters to the top of its central cross. The interior features over 15,000 square meters of magnificent gold mosaics, which were fully completed in 2020.
