Tierpark Hellabrunn

Hellabrunn Zoo is a 40 hectare zoological garden in the Bavarian capital of Munich. The zoo is home to more than 500 animal species that live in a unique natural paradise in the beautiful Isar Meadows conservation area. The Greater Flamingo colony is one of the park's most prominent highlights. Opened in April 2022, the habitat features a comprehensive full-cover netting system. This protective aviary allows the flamingos to live in a completely natural environment without the historical practice of wing-clipping, keeping them safe while preserving their ability to behave naturally.

Memmingen

Memmingen is a historic town in the Swabia region of Bavaria, famous for its beautifully preserved medieval old town, vibrant local festivals, and its role as a major regional travel gateway via the Memmingen Airport. Often called the Town of Human Rights, it is historically significant as the site where the Twelve Articles, Europe's first written declaration of human rights, were drafted in 1525. The central market square features the iconic Rathaus Memmingen, a Renaissance-era structure decorated with intricate rococo facades.

Nuremberg Zoo

Flocke and Rasputin, 2 polar bears who used to live in Nuremberg Zoo before they moved elsewhere. Currently the zoo has 3 female polar bears, Nana, Finja and Elva who arrived in Nuremberg in 2023.The Aquapark at Nuremberg Zoo is a modern, 2,300-square-meter water landscape opened in 2001 that allows polar bears to live alongside sea lions, penguins, and otters. It features a large artificial pool, rocky areas, and a 150-square-meter facility with underwater viewing areas for visitors.

Margravial Opera House

A masterpiece of Baroque theatre architecture, built between 1745 and 1750, the Opera House is the only entirely preserved example of its type where an audience of 500 can experience Baroque court opera culture and acoustics authentically, as its auditorium retains its original materials, i.e. wood and canvas. Commissioned by Margravine Wilhelmine, wife of Frederick, Margrave of Brandenburg–Bayreuth, it was designed by the renowned theatre architect Giuseppe Galli Bibiena. As a court opera house in a public space, it foreshadowed the large public theatres of the 19th century. The highly decorated theatre’s tiered loge structure of wood with illusionistic painted canvas represents the ephemeral ceremonial architectural tradition that was employed in pageants and celebrations for princely self-representation.

Ammersee

Ammersee is a picturesque lake in Upper Bavaria, located about 40 kilometers southwest of Munich. It is the third-largest lake in Bavaria and a popular destination for nature lovers and recreation seekers, offering a wide range of activities and charming lakeside villages. Together with Starnberger See, Pilsensee, Wörthsee and Weßlinger See, it forms the Starnberg Ammersee Cultural Landscape, with numerous nature reserves and moorland landscapes that evolved during the Ice Age, as well as the annual Fünf Seen Filmfestival.

Nuremberg Zoo

The dolphin lagoon in Nuremberg Zoo where dolphins swim together with sea lions under the open sky. They currently have 6 dolphins and 7 sea lions. With an area of ​​65 hectares, it is one of the largest zoos in Europe and the second largest zoo in Germany. Since 2018, the Nuremberg Zoo has only been home to female bottlenose dolphins. The facility is no longer participating in captive breeding.

Partnach Gorge

The Partnach Gorge is a deep gorge that has been incised by a mountain stream, the Partnach, in the Reintal valley near the south German town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The gorge is 702 metres long and, in places, over 80 metres deep. The gorge with brawling cataracts, waterfalls and deep puddles, is said to be one of the most fascinating gorges of the Bavarian Alps. It was designated a natural monument in 1912.

Wimbachklamm

Wimbachklamm is a short, but enchanting river gorge in Berchtesgaden National Park in Upper Bavaria. The gorge is located at the entrance of Wimbachtal, a high alpine valley that runs between the Watzmann and Hochkalter mountains. It separates the two massifs, very close to the village of Ramsau. The gorge is quite short, only 200 m long, but particularly spectacular. The national park was established in 1978 to protect the landscapes of the Berchtesgaden Alps. Headquartered in the town of Berchtesgaden, the park was designated a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1990.

Rothenburg

Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a German town in northern Bavaria known for its medieval architecture. Half-timbered houses line the cobblestone lanes of its old town. The town walls include many preserved gate houses and towers, plus a covered walkway on top. St. Jakob’s Church houses an intricate, late Gothic altarpiece by woodcarver Tilman Riemenschneider. The medieval Town Hall has a tower with panoramic views.

The sanctuary of Wies, near Steingaden in Bavaria, is a pilgrimage church extraordinarily well-preserved in the beautiful setting of an Alpine valley, and is a perfect masterpiece of Rococo art and creative genius, as well as an exceptional testimony to a civilization that has disappeared. A unique feature is the harmony between art and the countryside. At the center of the Church of Wies is the miraculous figure of the Scourged Savior. It is said that the tears, which the Savior shed became precious pearls from which the glorious rococo jewel was created.
