From Uganda

There are around 5,000 elephants in Uganda today. The African bush elephant is the most prominent elephant species in Uganda that is easily found in a number of parks across Uganda. The forest elephant is a rare one to find and inhabits some of the forest parks in Uganda such as Bwindi forest.

Fresno Chaffee Zoo

The Fresno Chaffee Zoo is a zoo in Roeding Park in Fresno, California covering 39 acres and housing over 190 species. Its attractions include Stingray Bay, Dino Dig, Valley Farm, Sea Lion Cove, African Adventure, and Ross Laird's Winged Wonders Bird Show.

In August 2024, not one but two elephants were born at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo from two different mothers. It marked the first time an elephant calf had been born on the property in the zoo's 95-year history. They currently have 5 African elephants. Nolwazi with daughter Amahle, son Thando and grandson Davu and father of the 2 newborns Mabu.
