Flamboyant tree at Cap Malheureux

December 04, 2020

Cap Malheureux with another view of  Coin de Mire in the background, approximately 4.5 km offshore from the nearest village of Cap Malheureux in the north tip of the Mauritius mainland. The flamboyant tree, also known as bouquet banana, discovered in Madagascar in 1824, is now common in the tropical belt and became a part of the Mauritian folklore .It is noted for its fern-like leaves and flamboyant display of orange-red flowers over summer. In many tropical parts of the world it is grown as an ornamental tree and in English it is given the name royal poinciana, flamboyant, flame of the forest, or flame tree.

Another gorgeous card from Tasneem, thanks a lot!

The Buchanan Dam is a multiple arch dam located on the Colorado River of Texas.
The dam forms Lake Buchanan and was the first dam to be completed in the chain of Texas Highland Lakes. The bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas. This particular flower was selected in large part due to the vast fields of bluebonnets that bloom each spring throughout the central portion of Texas.
