Moss garden of Saihō-ji

Saihō-ji is a Rinzai Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto. The temple is famed for its moss garden. In 1994, Saihō-ji was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto. The famous moss garden of Saihō-ji is situated on the eastern temple grounds. Located in a grove, the garden is arranged as a circular promenade centered on Golden Pond. Over 120 types of moss are present in the two-tiered garden, resembling a beautiful green carpet with many subtle shades.

Ginkakuji Temple, Kyoto

Garden of Ginkakuji temple, Kyoto.
Originally the villa of Ashikaga Yoshimitsu built in 1483-89. The garden, with stretch of white sand and a sand mound for moon viewing, is typical of  Muromachi era.

Ginkaku-ji, Temple of the Silver Pavilion, officially named Jishō-ji, is a Zen temple in the Sakyo ward of Kyoto. It was designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1994 and is an official National Treasure of Japan.

Kiyomizu-dera Temple

Kiyomizu-dera  is a Buddhist temple in eastern Kyoto. The temple is part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto UNESCO World Heritage site. The site is famous for its impressive viewing platform, three-storey Koyasu pagoda and the medicinal pure waters of the Otowa Spring. Kiyomizu-dera is one of the most celebrated temples of Japan. It was founded in 780 on the site of the Otowa Waterfall in the wooded hills east of Kyoto, and derives its name from the fall's pure waters. The temple was originally associated with the Hosso sect, one of the oldest schools within Japanese Buddhism, but formed its own Kita Hosso sect in 1965.

Kinkaku-Ji

Kinkaku-ji, officially named Rokuon-ji, is a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan. It is one of the most popular buildings in Kyoto, attracting many visitors annually. The temple was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994.

Kifune Shrine

Kifune Shrine, Kyoto, a shrine with a famous entrance surrounded by maple trees that worships kami associated with water. The stone staircase lined with red wooden lanterns and covered by a canopy of maples leading up to Kifune Shrine’s main hall is a famous sight often photographed in all seasons.
