Evangelical Reformed Church

The Evangelical Reformed Church in Kaunas is a church building with a single-nave layout, tall narrow windows, and a flat roof from the mid-twentieth century. Its modern exterior shows a straightforward design focused on functional forms without elaborate decoration. The church serves as a gathering place for the Reformed community, with its plain interior design reflecting Protestant values of simplicity and focus on spiritual practice.

Trakai Island Castle

Another amazing view of Trakai Island Castle, famous for its gothic architecture and its special location, it stands on an island on Lake Galve, one of the deepest lakes in Lithuania. The view of the historic structure is straight out of a fairy tale. You can reach the castle by crossing the long wooden bridge. In the winter the lake freezes over and becomes a natural skating rink.

Trakai

Situated between three lakes, Trakai is popularly known for its picturesque Trakai Castle. This fortress stands proudly surrounded by water in the middle of the lake Galvė. It is the one and only castle in Eastern Europe that is surrounded by water on all four sides. There are spectacular exhibitions of ancient tools, clothes, and furniture at the castle.

Kaunas Castle

The castle at the confluence of the Nemunas and Neris rivers was built in the 14th century to defend against the onslaught of crusaders. This is not only one of the first stone castles in Lithuania, but also the only one that has two rows of defensive walls. A settlement that grew into the current city was created around the Gothic defences. At present, the castle is a Kaunas city museum branch and annual cultural events are held in and around it.

Palanga

Palanga is a resort city in western Lithuania, on the shore of the Baltic Sea. Palanga is the busiest and the largest summer resort in Lithuania and has sandy beaches and sand dunes. Palangos Tiltas, an L-shaped pier, was constructed in the late 1800s. It joins the lively, pedestrianized Basanavičiaus Street, lined with bars and restaurants.

Trakai

Trakai is a town in southeastern Lithuania, west of Vilnius. Part of the Trakai Historical National Park, Trakai Island Castle is a 14th-century fortress in the middle of Lake Galvė. Once a home to Lithuania’s grand dukes, it now houses the Trakai History Museum, with archaeological objects, coins and crafts. On the lake’s southern shore are the stone ruins of the Trakai Peninsula Castle.

Hill of Crosses

Hill of Crosses is a site of pilgrimage about 12 km north of the city of Šiauliai, in northern Lithuania. The precise origin of the practice of leaving crosses on the hill is uncertain, but it is believed that the first crosses were placed on the former Jurgaičiai or Domantai hill fort after the 1831 Uprising. Over the generations, not only crosses and crucifixes, but statues of the Virgin Mary, carvings of Lithuanian patriots and thousands of tiny effigies and rosaries have been brought here by Catholic pilgrims.

Kernavė Mounds

Kernavė Archaeological Site, situated in the valley of the River Neris in eastern Lithuania, provides evidence of human settlements spanning some 10 millennia. Covering an area of 194.4 ha, the property contains archaeological evidence of ancient land use from the late Palaeolithic Period to the Middle Ages. It comprises a complex ensemble of archaeological elements, including the town of Kernavė, a unique complex of impressive hill forts, unfortified settlements, burial sites and other archaeological, historical and cultural monuments.

Old Fisherman's House

Old Fisherman's house in Curonian Spit National park.

The Curonian Spit is famous for a rich cultural heritage. The old inhabitants of the spit, Curonians, were fishermen.  The inhabitants of this region lived in the wooden homes with thatch roofs. Their homes were distinguished for their colouring and decorative gables. It was told, that fine carved gables of the roof served a decorative and protective function. Nowadays guests visiting Neringa can not only accommodate in such a fisherman’s house, but also have a tour in the lagoon on the restored wooden sailing boat.

Gediminas' Tower

Gediminas’ Castle Tower is the remaining fortification tower of the Upper Castle. Legend has it that the Grand Duke Gediminas dreamt of an Iron Wolf howling at the top of this hill, which he took as a prophecy of the great city that would one day stand in this place. The hill is where he eventually built a wooden castle. Gediminas' Tower is an important state and historic symbol of the city of Vilnius and of Lithuania itself. The hilltop can be reached on foot or by lift. It is one of the best places to see the magnificent panoramas of Vilnius.  The tower houses a museum exhibiting archaeological findings from the hill and the surrounding areas.
