August 09, 2023

The Dôme des Invalides, which contains Napoleon I’s tomb, is the emblem of the Hôtel National des Invalides and an unmissable monument in the Parisian landscape. The Dôme des Invalides remains as one of the prime exemplars of French Baroque architecture, at 107 metres high, and also as an iconic symbol of France's absolute monarchy.

Notre-Dame de Paris

August 07, 2022

The South side of Notre-Dame de Paris.

The Notre Dame Cathedral with its sculptures and stained glass windows show the heavy influence of naturalism, unlike that of earlier Romanesque architecture. It was one of the very first Gothic cathedrals, and its construction took place throughout the Gothic period. The north and south facades of the transept have magnificent rose windows decorated with stained glass, among the largest in Europe, with a diameter of 13 meters. The south rose has 94 medallions, arranged in four circles, depicting scenes from the life of Christ and those who witnessed his time on earth.

June 04, 2022

A souvenir from my trip to Paris! The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most famous monuments in Paris, standing at the western end of the Champs-Élysées at the centre of Place Charles de Gaull. The Arc de Triomphe honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces.

For 130 years, the Eiffel Tower has been a powerful and distinctive symbol of the city of Paris, and by extension, of France. At first, when it was built for the 1889 World's Fair, it impressed the entire world by its stature and daring design, and symbolized French know-how and industrial genius.

La Tour Eiffel is one of the world’s most recognizable landmarks. The tower was designed as the centerpiece of the 1889 World's Fair in Paris and was meant to commemorate the centennial of the French Revolution and show off France’s modern mechanical prowess on a world stage. Every evening, the Eiffel Tower is adorned with its golden covering and sparkles for 5 minutes every hour on the hour, while its beacon shines over Paris. The Eiffel Tower is the most-visited paid monument in the world. It is 324 metres tall, about the same height as an 81-storey building, and the tallest structure in Paris.
