Puerto de la Cruz

June 12, 2024

Although this is the smallest municipality in Tenerife, covering just 8.7 km2, Puerto de la Cruz has plenty of appeal with its protected historic quarter and its seemingly endless coast. Puerto de la Cruz spans the coastal part of the Valley of La Orotava in a stunning setting, with the mighty silhouette of Mount Teide rising 3,718 m high in the background. Its wonderful climate made this the first tourist destination in the Canary Islands. Puerto de la Cruz has been considered a National Tourist Interest Site since 1955 because of its tradition as a centre for rest and recuperation and as a holiday destination. Its fascinating and beautifully kept historic quarter, with over 140 protected buildings, is a pleasure for everyone who strolls through it.

Puerto de la Cruz

August 09, 2023

Puerto de la Cruz is a city on the north coast of Tenerife, the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands. It’s known for its dark, volcanic-sand beaches and the huge Loro Parque zoo, which lies to the west. On the seafront, Lago Martiánez is a saltwater pool complex designed by architect César Manrique. The old harbor is home to a 17th-century customs house and Batería de Santa Bárbara, a crumbling 18th-century fort.

Thanks so much Helena!

Playa de Benijo

April 06, 2023

Benijo is the most remote beach belonging to the town of Taganana which also contains the beaches of El Roque de las Bodegas and Almáciga. It boasts a unique landscape on the Island and fabulous views of the Roques de Anaga rock formations. Its sunsets are simply magical, especially when the glimmering sea contrasts with the red horizon and the dark outline of the volcanic rocks rising from the depths of the ocean.

La Laguna is a town on the northern part of Tenerife not far from Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It is considered to be the cultural capital of Tenerife. The historical centre of San Cristóbal de La Laguna is one of the Canary Islands’ cultural treasures and is a representation of a colonial Spanish city without walls. It has the best preserved and most beautiful old towns in all of Tenerife and has held the title of UNESCO World Heritage Site since the end of the 20th Century.

San Cristóbal de La Laguna was the first city founded in Tenerife, in 1496 by Adelantado of the Canary Islands Alonso Fernández de Lugo and has been a source of inspiration for cities like Old Havana or Cartagena in Colombia.
