South Beach Fremantle

Gantheaume Point

Gantheaume Point is a spectacular red rock promontory located roughly 6 kilometres from Broome, Western Australia, where vibrant red sandstone cliffs contrast sharply with the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. It is a premier natural attraction famed for its deeply dramatic coastal scenery, world-class sunsets, and exceptional prehistoric importance.Preserved directly within the reef sandstone at the water's edge are some of the world's most significant dinosaur tracks.

Wave Rock

Wave Rock is a spectacular natural granite formation in Western Australia that looks exactly like a giant, 15-metre-high ocean wave frozen in time. Located near the small town of Hyden in the Wheatbelt region, this striking "wave" stretches about 110 metres long and forms the northern side of a solitary hill known as Hyden Rock.The granite itself is approximately 2.7 billion years old, making it one of the oldest rocks in the world.

Avon River

The mighty Avon River is famous for hosting the international annual white water rafting event, the Avon Descent. Each year, hundreds of canoeists and power boaters tackle the gruelling rapids and rock pools of this 133-kilometre course from the picturesque farming township of Northam to Perth. The Avon River begins as a tranquil waterway flowing through Northam. Here, you can go picnicking by the river and enjoy a peaceful afternoon of relaxation. The pedestrian suspension bridge which spans the river is the longest in Australia. It’s the perfect spot to take photographs and see Northam’s unique white swan colony. Downstream, the Avon River picks up its pace, especially in winter time. The Avon Descent is held each year in August. The river flows through the Avon Valley and then joins the Swan River.

Perth Zoo

A gorgeous koala from Perth Zoo, a 17-hectare zoological park in South Perth. I visited this zoo myself and I absolutely loved it. So thank you Marnie for bringing back nice memories from one of my trips to Australia!

Elizabeth Quay is an exciting new waterfront precinct on the banks of the Swan River. Here you’ll find the island playground, the BHP Billiton Water Park, public artwork, promenades, open spaces and a range of bars and restaurants. A range of scenic river cruises sail tourists and locals from Barrack Street Jetty to the Swan Valley, Fremantle and Rottnest Island.

Old Mandurah Bridge

Mandurah is a coastal city in Western Australia, situated approximately 72 kilometres south of the state capital, Perth. Mandurah is considered the unofficial gateway to the South West and possesses a variety of tourist attractions, most of which are located near the water. It is a major fishing and crabbing area in Western Australia, with the city well known for the blue manna crab with a festival held in early March known as Crabfest.  Mandurah is home to WA's largest population of Bottlenose Dolphins.  Like neighbouring settlements Bunbury and Rockingham dolphins and whales frequent the city annually and dolphin and whale watching are a popular pastime.

Bell Tower

The Swan Bells are a set of 18 bells hanging in a specially built 82.5-metre-high copper and glass campanile in Perth. The tower is commonly known as The Bell Tower. Taking their name from the Swan River, which their tower overlooks, and forming a sixteen-bell peal with two extra chromatic notes, they are the second largest set of change ringing bells in the world.

Ningaloo Reef

Some 1,200 kilometres north of Perth, the fringing Ningaloo Reef is a sparkling gem in Western Australia’s crown. Right on the coast, the reef is UNESCO World Heritage-listed, and offers a slew of outdoor adventures. Ningaloo’s most notable visitors are the whale sharks. This is one of the world’s largest aggregations, making it a great place to swim with them, along with manta rays, turtles or humpback whales during their migration.

Denham Foreshore

Located on the western coast of the Peron Peninsula 831 kilometres north of Perth, Denham is the westernmost publicly accessible town in Australia. Today, Denham survives as the gateway for the tourists who come to see the dolphins at Monkey Mia, which is located 23 kilometres northeast of the town. The town also has an attractive beach and a jetty popular with those interested in fishing and boating. The anchor of the Norwegian ship Gurdrun which sank in 1901, is displayed on the Denham foreshore.

Bungle Bungle Range

Rising 300 metres above the grass-covered plains that surround them, the orange and black sandstone domes known as the Bungle Bungle are one of the world’s most fascinating geological landmarks. The world heritage listed Bungle Bungle Range is located within Purnululu National Park in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Purnululu, meaning sandstone, has long been inhabited by local Aboriginal people, but did not become widely known to the rest of the world until the mid 1980s .The distinctive beehive-shaped towers are made up of sandstones and conglomerates. These sedimentary formations were deposited into the Red Basin 375 to 350 million years ago, when active faults were altering the landscape. The combined effects of wind from the Tanami Desert and rainfall over millions of years shaped the domes. The Bungle Bungle Range formation occupies an area of approximately 450 square kilometres.

Bottlenose Dolphins

The cosmopolitan city of Bunbury is renowned for its wild but friendly bottlenose dolphins which you can meet at the shoreline or out in the bay aboard a dolphin watching and swimming tour. To meet Bunbury's friendliest locals, make a beeline for the Dolphin Discovery Centre. Here, on the shores of Koombana Bay, a dedicated interpretive centre and interaction zone allows visitors to encounter some of the 100 plus bottlenose dolphins who frequent its calm waters. Stand knee-deep in the shallows and wait for them to come to you, or join a tour for a viewing or swimming experience.
