High Trestle Trail Bridge
July 28, 2012
The High Trestle Trail Bridge spans the banks of the Des Moines River Valley and is located between the rural communities of Woodward and Madrid. There are six overlooks on the bridge with interpretive panels that highlight the region's cultural and natural history. Since the 13-story (40-meter) high and nearly half-mile (770-meter) long bridge is located near mining shafts, the bridge decking incorporates a decorative structure that represents the view through a mine shaft and its design includes decorative lighting that remains on until midnight.
