On April 9, 2005 the Nashville Zoo opened to the public it's newest edtion, the Cal Turner Family Foundation African Elephant Savannah. During 19 months of construction, 3 acres of undeveloped property became a beautiful landscaped habitat with nearly 7,000 plants and viewing points for Zoo guests as well as 150,000 gallon wading pool, mud hole and trees to shade the three female African elephants Hadari, Sukari and Kiba.
