Wollumbin

Wollumbin is a place of cultural and traditional significance to the Bundjalung people and contains sacred sites, where particular ceremonies and initiation rites are performed. The summit area of the Mountain is a declared Aboriginal Place under the National Parks and Wildlife Act. Wollumbin, which rises to a height of 1,157 metres above sea level, is a remnant central vent of an ancient volcano. The mountain is protected by the surrounding Wollumbin National Park and  part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests of Australia. Wollumbin National Park is located in northern New South Wales, 642 kilometres north of Sydney near the border with the state of Queensland.
